today i received the news that my solicitor has received the title deeds for the house i am buying. What is this and what does it mean? What happens next, do searches happen now?

Your solicitor should have already started the searches. They will also need proof of funds from you and your mortgage company.

I've found when buying I seem to be doing a bit of everyone's job. Keep on chasing so you can complete as soon as you can!
