Moving from South to North + Benefits?

Hey all. I didn’t know where to ask this but this seems like the best place?

I'm a Dad+Mum to my two special boys. Wife passed away last year but I’ve been housekeeping and doing the kids stuff for quite a bit now.

my oldest son has a very rare thing and will need surgery on his brain, etc quite often. There’s only 4 hospitals in the UK that can do this for him. 3 in/around London which is a 4 hour trip for us, and 1 in Manchester. I’ve also met an amazing woman from up north and would like to persue a happy ever after tbh. It’s about my turn I get treated right and loved.

only problem is, as a full time carer to my oldest son - I’m privately renting in the south, and am on UC+Carers Allowance. Has anyone with UC moved from South to North before? Was it hard? Will it cause a lot of crazy hardships? I just feel like this move is really meant to be for myself and my boys.

opinions?

I think you may be better off posting in the Money Matters forum as they have people posting on there with lots of experience re UC and how it works.

Someone may be able to help on this forum but in case not, that is where I would try next.

Good Luck with your move anyway & hope it all works out 😀

I have no direct experience of this but did have a friend who moved on UC and she was absolutely fine, no added difficulties. Plus her costs up north are certainly a lot cheaper. I am sure someone will come along soon and give some more advice. Good luck and I hope you have a lovely new life there.
