Party wall notice- should I use same surveyor?

Can’t find an answer to this on Google- can any very kind MNer please advise me?

In our terrace, my neighbour has served a party wall notice on me. Unexpected, they don’t do advance warnings.
I want to use an independent party wall surveyor. The neighbours (on the other side of the house that is wanting to do the work) have already appointed an PW surveyor and seem happy with them. Should I use their same PW surveyor too then, if they seem good?
Or is it important that I don’t use the same PW surveyor as my next-door-but-one neighbour is using?

They're independent, so I wouldn't be too concerned if they seem good and have been independently appointed by next-door-but-one. I would definitely check that they are RICS registered and properly qualified for the work.

Don't forget that, although they are independent, it's your neighbour's bill to pay!

Fine in theory to use the same surveyor as next door but one. Do not under any circumstances use the same surveyor as your direct party wall neighbour (joint surveyor) as it limits your options.

Thank you both very much. That’s so helpful. I just need everything to be as independent and above board as possible because the neighbours serving the party wall notice are super dodgy. They have already caused damage to our homes and are not using professional builders etc while saying that they are etc.
