HI all - wondering if anyone has any experience getting an existing velux loft conversion changed to a dormer one? If so, how did the costs compare to getting one done from scratch?
We bought a house last year which has the loft converted, but they've done it as a velux one (i.e. not changed the roofline at all). It's OK but means that some compromises were made such as:
- They made one of the front bedrooms on the front floor MUCH smaller to install the stairs with enough ceiling height
- They installed a bathroom in the loft but it has a macerator toilet due to the fact that otherwise there would have be a bend in the waste pipe (waste pipe / sewerage pipe?)(this is at the back of the house)
The conversion was done with Building Regulations approval in 1990 so fair enough it's due a refresh.
Wondering if anyone else has ever had an existing velux converted to dormer, and how the costs compared to having to a "from scratch" loft conversion
