My hallway stairs and landing has no windows. It’s currently just an off white colour. Really want to add some interest to it by brining in some colour thinking teal or blue tones but dont want it to look really dark has anyone else used colour in the hallway thats not made it feel dark? Any tips please? Thanks

I have a long dark hallway. I decided to embrace the dark snd painted it dark blue and put lits of colourful prints on the wall.

We went pink last year. I love it.

Photos are from before second coat hence the white patches.

That looks really lovely. We found a gorgeous dark blue but couldn't trust it wouldn't be too dark in hallway so we did our whole bedroom in it instead!

Thanks @DappledThings. Love yours too.. gorgeous pink!

We've gone part-pink on the upstairs landing. Still a work in progress as stairs/bannisters need sorting!

That's very much how I'm envisioning redoing our lounge. We must have similar taste, that looks fab too.

Thanks for the ideas. Im not brave at all with decorating so really good to see what other people have done. They all look fab. Much more interesting than the usual grey or white.

What kind of lighting do you have? Choose warm lights. Thre Farm Green by Little Greene or Brinjal or Red Earth by Farrow and Ball would also be lovely if you are feeling brave. Go for it OP 🙂

Put a dado rail in. That way you can have a dramatic colour on the top and a lighter contrasting one below (or vice versa).

Add reflective glass, mirrors, color, lots of light , shiny banisters, frames, and even better new windows.

We used a light yellow for our hall/stairs/landing. We only have a window on the landing, and glazed panels in the front door, so the stairs and hall don't get a lot of natural light. It is certainly airier, and much better than the boring magnolia we inherited.

My hallway is Borrowed Light by Farrow & Ball. I think you have to let your house talk to you when you’re choosing colour: a huge, bright hallway will wear colour differently to a narrow, dark one. It also depends on what you like; I find pastel shades calming and dark overbearing. My house is old with lots of original features, yellow stained glass and pine floors so it suits blues & pinks, but my last house was more green grey colours.
