Kitchen Lighting

I need better lighting in my kitchen but I have no idea on what to replace it with. Currently there's one bar light with 4 separate lights. Each bulb is 230v, 3w, 50Hz, 260LM, 2700K, Non dimmable. So I think I need more than the total of the 4 separate bulbs. It's so confusing, I don't want to replace it only to find it's no better. Would I have to get an additional light fitting installed to have two lights? There is under cover lighting as well which I use all the time. The kitchen measures 4m x 4m approx. I looked at one in John Lewis that the chap said was the brightest one they sold (currently out of stock) but would it be any better https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-boyd-led-6-arm-semi-flush-ceiling-light/p3459140&ved=2ahUKEwjb9LPJ3cWDAxWBgP0HHfLBATwQFnoECBUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2_nF1kwyLnaTwIXMiqOnwS

Can anyone offer any advice please.

Your current light bar has 4 bulbs, you can measure the light output by lumens, so 4 x 260LM = 1040lumens. The light you linked to gives out 1200 lumens, so is just under 20% brighter than your existing, however... this light has non-replaceable LEDs, they should last many many years, but once the LEDs fail, you will either have to replace the whole light under guarantee or recycle and buy a new one.

I'd always recommend buying a light with replaceable bulbs, that way you can buy bulbs as bright as you need them and easily replace them when they fail.

So, if you use 400 lumen bulbs (these are usually around 4watt LED but always check the box) in a fitting such as this https://www.universal-lighting.co.uk/products/allegra-6-light-semi-flush-ceiling-light-antique-brass/
You will get over 2000 lumens which you can dim or use lower brightness bulbs and a lovely spread of light which is much more pleasing to the eye than spotlights.
