We're looking for a place to relocate to, somewhere in between Bristol and Shropshire. My ideal would be:

  • market town sized, but with access to nature/outdoors activities
  • good schools, kids activities and opportunities
  • arty/quirky independent shops type vibe

-access to train station, ideally on a route to Bristol or Birmingham.

Budget would be up to 375k for 3 bed family home. We both work remotely.

Stroud and Abergavenny have popped into mind but I'd love to hear people's suggestions and experiences of locations.

Frome fits all that and you can buy a 3 bed for 350.

North Shropshire is cheaper than the south with lots of little market towns such as Oswestry, Wem, Whitchurch as well as the county town of Shrewsbury. Transport links to Liverpool, Chester and Birmingham and only a few miles from Welsh border and glorious countryside all around. Local independent shops, theatres, book shops, etc. The best place to live !!!

Have you looked at Ledbury?
on Trainline to
both Birmingham and London- lots of indi shops, close to Malvern for Theatre and gorgeous countryside walks.

Thanks, these are great suggestions. Frome is lovely but too far from Shropshire I think. Ledbury wasn't on my radar at all, I'll check it out! Any more suggestions welcome!
