Velux Window Size

Hi there

we are wanting to install velux windows in our extension. Has anyone fitted velux windows and any guidance on sizing? I am aware of the 25% glazing rule so no need to point that out. I’m interested in which sizes you went for based on the size of the roof/ceiling and the gap you left between any windows and the wall/roof edge. I am tempted to go for two windows where the spacing would be 40cm, 50cm, 40cm but I am not sure if the windows will look too dominating and a bigger gap would be better with smaller window sizes.

any pictures along with sizes would be super helpful, finding it impossible to find this on any renovation blogs/social pages.

Talk with whoever is building your roof. We took our roofer's advice about spacings and sizes - what was possible, how big, and where they should go- and he was bang-on. We had planned to have them closer to the house wall, but because of the way 'through' having beam with a solid wall above, he pointed out that having them further from the house would actually let more light into the inner room, and he was right.

Velux are great, but their sizes of windows are limited, and can depend on what sort you want in terms of types of opening, electric or not, etc. so if you want Velux (we did), you also need to start with what they make.
