verbal agreement

I recently made an offer, paid a deposit, and secured a property through the modern method of auction. The seller kindly agreed to a £5k reduction, on the condition that I clear out all their belongings due to their overall fatigue with the situation. I'm quite enthused about the property and am envisioning it with a few pieces of remarkable '60s furniture they've left behind.
However, the thought has crossed my mind – if the seller has a change of heart, am I left with no recourse? Should I have obtained this agreement in writing for my own protection?
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated.

Well yes of course you should get it in writing.
Otherwise how are you going to prove it
