Aerial

I have an outdoor aerial which has fallen down so now have no tv signal. Does anyone know if I have to have an outdoor aerial or can I just use an indoor one if I find one strong enough?

Depends on how strong the signal is.

In both this and our previous house the aerial is in the loft but because the transmitter (different ones as we moved across the country) is relatively close (about 15-miles as the crow flies) the aerial only needs to be pointing in the vague direction to get a really strong digital signal without the need for an amplifier or high-gain aerial
In fact, not one house where we live has an external aerial as all have been put in the loft, new development and the local aerial company have done many houses although we used BT TV for ours (£30).

Why do you need an aerial at all? You can watch via an internet connection.

@Cotswoldbee The transmitter is around 50 miles away. I don’t have a loft to put an aerial in. I just want rid of an outdoor aerial especially with all the strong winds at the moment.

It's not just about how far away it is its also about if you are in a direct line of sight, if there are hills in the way, if there is a relay transmitter between you and the main transmitter etc

Google "Freeview via internet".

I have used various models of this sort of thing in several rentals for years. Sometimes you have to fiddle with the placement on different walls. For the most part, they work really well. Check whichever one you buy has a long lead.
