Find me a house please! (Derbyshire)

Hi… we’re making the move back to the area I am originally from. I am looking for somewhere commutable to Alton area, and a reasonable drive to Allestree.

requirements-
4 bed
village location (we are in an isolated village now)
good village primary school
ideally not a new property
up to about £475k

wish list-

biggish garden
Not on a main road

A tough ask, I know. I feel like i’ve exhausted rightmove!

Ooh I will have a look, but Denstone primary (All Saints) is lovely, as is Alton primary (St Peter's). Church Broughton also has a lovely school. All three take children from the surrounding villages too. Doveridge has a nice primary school too.

Doveridge, Denstone and Alton feed into the middle/high school system in Uttoxeter, whereas I think Church Broughton feeds into QEGS, if high schools are a consideration.

The Draycott one is lovely

We just sold our 4 bed new build in Ashbourne for 450k. I think you’d be stretched to find a rural 4 bed for 475k unless you go for a fixer upper or possibly more towards Staffordshire or the other side of Derby (Breadsall, Ockbrook etc)

Brailsford in my opinion doesn’t really offer a village feel - rather several merged housing estates built around the A52, the school gets mixed reviews since they’ve moved/expanded. Depends what you’re after but if you’re used to an isolated village then Brailsford would probably not suit you.

@Mardyybum yes completely take ypur point, can see we’d need more like 650 for properties i’ve seen in Muggington, Shottle area.

towards staffs is an option, as is a doer upper

@missangela the search rumbles on, we don’t have a massive immediate need to move and it needs to be right so we are holding on for now and hopefully looking with fresh eyes and a slightly renewed budget
