Where will we like to live in the UK?

Returning to the UK after living overseas for the last decade. Lived in Singapore and Bermuda. Ready to settle down.

We like mountains and the coast so don’t mind. Musts are nice old architecture and somewhere that would welcome a same sex couple into village life.

Do you want mountains and coast? Would you prefer a vibrant city with easy access to the countryside?

What about work, airport access, hobbies? Budget and housing requirements?

Essentially we need to know more 😀

Sparehair · 07/12/2023 19:29

Also do you have kids and if so, what age?

WombatBombat · 07/12/2023 19:41

Keynsham/outskirts of Bristol.

Not too far to Wales & mountains, North Devon for coast. Still got a bit of a buzz after Singapore.

MaryGreenhill · 07/12/2023 19:45

Crickhowell in Breconshire it's absolutely beautiful , rivers , mountains , in the Brecon Beacons , national park, architecture, same sex couples honestly, my Nephew and his partner live there very happily .

LIZS · 07/12/2023 19:54

York, Edinburgh or Northumberland coast

zpinnk · 07/12/2023 20:09

We’d be happy in lots of types of places really! We don’t want London (did it in our early 20s). We don’t want industrial town or new towns.

We only need two bedrooms, but happier with four. Budget maybe £800k? We’d like to be mortgage free by 40!

Is Hebden Bridge too obvious of a suggestion?

Tomorrowwillbefun · 07/12/2023 20:16

Hebden Bridge in Yorkshire. Great lesbian community and fabulous countryside around. With it being in the north of England, your 800K would buy a very nice property.

Came here to say exactly this 😅

Riverlee · 07/12/2023 20:17

Brighton was my first thought, has the coast but not the mountains.

oldcrinkle · 07/12/2023 20:36

Malvern.

libbylane · 11/02/2024 14:51

Bristol, Hebden Bridge, Harrogate or York, Brighton or Hove

AgentProvocateur · 11/02/2024 15:05

Edinburgh, Helensburgh, North Berwick

Freeamigos · 11/02/2024 18:26

Folkestone would give you easy access to the North Downs and stunning coastlines both on your doorstep. Steeped in history, beautiful architecture and extremely creative and inclusive. Look up MeettheWildes on insta who are one of the many same sex families here…it’s not quite a village, but it is a beautiful small, very friendly and welcoming town. Try Saltwood or Sandgate if you don’t fancy the town itself. Highly recommended.

fleurneige · 11/02/2024 18:29

Welcome back- but honestly, with so little information about age, work, hobbies, sport, children...

how can anyone advise. Brighton would be good for same sex couple.

EffieeBriest · 12/02/2024 12:25

Tbf the same places are always suggested if the OP has a huge budget. Always York or Harrogate in the mix.

Namechange357 · 13/02/2024 09:47

Brighton or Hove (which is beside Brighton and more residential). Very liberal and lots of LGBT couples / families. Hove is a very expensive place to buy tho!
