We were meant to exchange this week and complete next week and our buyer pulled out yesterday.

I am so pissed off. No real reason to this post other than moral support!!

@packatape they haven’t really given a proper reason, unless we’re not being told something. Seems just to have changed their mind. It’s all very strange tbh.

Name and shame them on your local facebook page as timewasters to stop them from doing it to someone else.

happystory · 05/12/2023 13:05

Oh that's terrible, my sympathies. Grrrrr

Seriously?? That's nasty behaviour.

You never know what someone is going through behind closed doors.

OP, I am sorry for your stress.

@packatape no the survey didn’t show anything bad/unexpected.

It’s back on the market today, hopefully we can keep the rest of the chain together while we find a new buyer… was really looking forward to being in our new home before Xmas!!

I’m so sorry. This happened to us, though not as far into the process. No reason given — just that they’d changed their minds.

I suspect that they might have got cold feet about finances/ change the closer it all got to reality. Still, if one person made an acceptable offer, there will be another.

@packatape yes we have, and also trying to get a full copy of the survey report. Thanks!

Oh no 😟 same thing happened to us back in June... gutted. In our case we had to withdraw our offer for our onward purchase.
The whole housing chain thing causes so much disruption to lives and plans…
And then we were on the other side of the scenario last week when our vendor abruptly withdrew their house for sale JUST DAYS AFTER WE HAD SPENT £895 ON A SURVEY.
i could weep.
sorry for your stress too.

Patatchaude · 05/12/2023 13:47

Could be that a better house eventually came up, as difficult as it is, they also lost probably more money than you in the process. But with downward pressure from buyers, chain often cause people to compromise on their next house.

sweetpickle23 · 05/12/2023 13:50

Oh no I'm so sorry! This is my biggest fear with our current chain.

The system in the UK for buying and selling is so broken!
