New Windows are yellow!!

Had new windows fitted & there's a horrible yellow stain around the new frames. I've tried everything I can think of to remove it: bleach, cif, barkeepers friend, fairy etc & nothing works
Does anyone know what this is & how to get rid of it??
Thank you!

Looks like the glue… I have similar (smaller!) marks on mine where someone previously stuck net curtains to the frames, still looking for a way to get it off.

On this I’d be asking the window company back to sort it out.

If it's glue mayo might help. So far it helped me with all glue residue. Put mayo on, leave for like an hour and see if it helped losen it up. Oil itself can work but mayo sticks better and does not drip

I wouldn't have let them leave. When were they fitted?

Lotsofpots · 05/12/2023 12:16

I had this about a year after new windows were fitted. The company tried a specialist cleaning product and when that didn't work, replaced the whole until. They thought it might have been rust from a metal part.

Fizzadora · 05/12/2023 12:31

It looks very much like the problem we had with our patio doors. The fitter used an unfamiliar brand of expanding foam which went everywhere then instead of leaving it to dry he tried to wipe it off.
I was all for making him replace them but DH as usual said oh dont worry I will sort it. ( He does this a lot, it's fucking annoying when you have paid someone to do a job). Anyway he bought a product which has more or less worked although it left a stain but that has faded in the sun. As it's mostly outside i dont have to look at it.
I would get them back to either get rid of it completely or replace the whole window.

Pat wd40 on with kitchen towel. Leave ten minutes. Attack with patience and a credit card. Rinse and repeat.

Is it raised at all to the touch or not?

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 05/12/2023 14:02

I wouldn’t be using all kinds of cleaners and things on them. If they are newly fitted they should have some kind of guarantee. Just get the supplier/fitter back and get them to sort it out or replace the lot if they can’t do it.

squeekychicken · 05/12/2023 14:27

I wouldn't use anything until you've sought advice from the fitter.

Thank you! Will give it a try. (Sorry for thread derail)

Mumaway · 05/12/2023 14:35

First tell the company to sort it. If that fails HG do a UPVC cleaner, or meths works too

Headband · 05/12/2023 14:41

I agree, it's expanding foam residue, I've got some on my window frames and absolutely nothing gets it off .
Get the fitters back.

ZeroFuches · 05/12/2023 15:20

Righto thanks for all advice & suggestions. I was hoping not to have to contact the fitters but I reckon I'll have to - it's bloody annoying isn't it!!

Get them back, was it like that when they left or had it appeared since? Take lots of photos and if they're not helpful I'd be leaving reviews with the photos everywhere.
