Checkatrade

I need a damp specialist to do a reasonable-sized job for me and so searched through Checkatrade for appropriate providers.

I sent out four messages using Checkatrade’s “Request a Quote” feature over a week and nobody has replied.

I will chase up everyone directly but just wondered (for future reference) whether there’s likely to be any reason all four messages were ignored.. eg does Checktrade make the tradespeople pay for leads that come through the website?

Does anyone have insight on this?

Trades don’t pay for leads, just a membership to be on there. It could be that they didn’t get the emails or it could just be they don’t want the work. If they don’t want it they should log in and decline so you get notified. I’d call them directly to follow up and when looking for others on there make sure they state they carry out the work you’re asking for. The businesses I work for are on there (two different industries) and I can’t tell you how many enquiries we get for things we don’t do.

Excellent thanks, this is super helpful! I’ll follow up with some calls.

It’s really gone down hill. I used to be on it and I got no business because other companies which were a long way away were getting all the leads. Try trust a trader, or Google someone locally and check their reviews.
