I need a hive heating expert so confused.

Long boring message...sorry.

We have the hive heating system Installed and have also got individual hive trvs on all but three rads (bathrooms and spare bedroom). I am getting myself very confused over all the settings. Is there anyone who is a subject matter expert on it as I can never seem to get through to the online chat.

My main question is that if you have the individual trvs set to heat on demand do they need to be on manual on a low temp so they fire when the temp dips or can they be on a schedule...if so how does the hod work with a schedule also?

I have also worked out that if all the rads are on hod the main hall stat needs to be on Manual on low say 12/14 and not a schedule as surely that is then conflicting with the hod and not firing up outside the main stat schedule?! I work in my office during the day, should this be set to hod on manual on say 18 so it doesn't fall below this and then off at the weekends? Or will a schedule still work with hod.

I'm so confused. I sort of wish we hadn't had all the trvs fitted but my DH insists it's worth it.

Tia

You put your radiators on a schedule and they will call for heat when necessary. You don’t need to keep the hall thermostat on manual, but on a low setting on schedule. Even if the temperature has been reached here, then the radiators will still come on if heat on demand has been set.

But they won't call for heat outside of the trv schedule will they as what temp are they trying to hit (when in schedule and not on they are at 7). Outside the schedule would I just boost that room?

Also if my main stat has reached temp, should it still fire up if a room has been boosted?

So two rooms are heating apparently but yet the main stat isn't saying calling for heat? My DD radiator isn't on despite it being boosted. 😭

Hive has recently updated when it calls for heat so it doesn’t actually come through until it is 0.5 degrees below the scheduled temperature although it confusingly has the light showing. I’m guessing that your scheduled temperatures are 17 and 16 degrees, so when the temperature detected by the radiators drop slightly more they will call for heat and you will see that on the heating thermostat icon. They said they changed it as a money saving feature!
