Front door - am I asking too much?

I’m replacing my front door with a composite one. It needs to have quite a lot of glass panels as hallway has no other windows.

I also want a letterbox.

I had wanted Solidor but their models with even a small about of glass seem to rule out a letterbox. Am I asking too much?

Can anyone recommend any other brands? I’ve looked at Rock and that might be an option..

Which model are you looking at? Think it's the Stirling that has the biggest window but I'm sure you can still have a letterbox in it.

VeniVidiWeeWee · 26/11/2023 23:05

Have you looked at a letterbox in the bottom of the door? Pain in the arse for postmen and news boys but might work. Sorry about the casual sexism but wine has been taken and I can't be arsed to work out non gendered versions.

I have a solidor with glass and a letterbox

CormorantStrikesBack · 26/11/2023 23:08

You could have a Beeston model which is half glass with a letterbox. Or a Ludlow two which is two panels of glass.

BettyBakesCakes · 26/11/2023 23:15

Funnily enough I was doing a design your own front door thing with them and there were definitely letterboxes. How much does a composite door cost these days?

pavillion1 · 26/11/2023 23:25

I have been looking at front doors and finding it really difficult to get what i want. Tbh what i really want is someone to pop over and do it all for me 😆

Walkingtheplank · 26/11/2023 23:30

The Alnwick has lots of glass and a letter box.

We are Getting a new front door & going for pvc instead of composite as half the price & we want mostly glass. Why do you want composite out of interest? We're getting windows replaced so bigger project

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 26/11/2023 23:58

@buckeejit composite doors are meant to be much higher rated in security and thermal properties than any other type.
Also they aren’t supposed to be as susceptible to weathering/discolouration from the elements.

Pinkpinkpink15 · 27/11/2023 00:45

I'm looking at composite doors.

I'll send you a couple of links tomorrow.

bluebeach · 27/11/2023 05:29

we got one of these front doors, it cost too much but it’s the nicest part of my house and does feel like good quality. It was also the most convincing painted wood door I could find.

I think what you need is a door with two glass panels & a horizontal divider with a letterbox.

whatchagonnado · 27/11/2023 06:23

I have a Solidor with glass, letterbox AND a door knocker Smile
Of course it's possible

Jewelspun · 27/11/2023 10:06

I completed their build a door and you can have a letterbox. I did it in white just so it would stand out for the photo-

Have you tried Xtreme doors? We've had a modern one of theirs before with a letterbox and full glass panel.
