L Shaped Kitchen

We are having a kitchen moved and so are designing an L shaped with an island. We can't have a pantry for the corner, although have some ideas for the awkward corner.

If you have an L shaped kitchen please tell me what you recommend as an essential and what you feel was a bit of an error of judgement.

We have an L shaped kitchen with an island. We actually have an actual pantry room (Victorian house) off the kitchen and we hid the door to this within the cupboards on the L shape. We have the tall cupboards down the shorter side (ovens and plate warmer built into this). The longer back side has two windows either side of the hob in the middle and then on either side of these we put cupboards with the lights and glass door for glassware. Our sink is on the island. In our awkward corner we put two shelves connecting the tall cupboards to the back wall. We keep cook books up there which is really useful and I would definitely recommend. Underneath we have the coffee machine. Honestly have no regrets with it and we absolutely love it!

@afternoontea86 any chance I could be cheeky and ask you to take a pic of that corner please. I'm really struggling to visualise these things.

Apologies, misread. I know exactly what you're saying now.

No worries! Hope all goes well with your kitchen OP!

Thanks. I'd have absolutely loved a pantry but alas not enough room 😢

It is one more room to keep tidy though! It just seems to be constantly a mess. Might be due to the fact I have two young boys who love to help themselves to snacks but as they can't quite reach they have to do a strategical knock of the basket off the shelf to get what they want. I've had to resort to putting their snacks on the top shelf!

post a floor plan if you want proper comments

Not the best picture, but you get the idea. The broken lines are openings into what will be the extension which is going to be the lounge.

Under the stairs is going to be a built in dog bed.
