Amersham commute

For those commuting from Amersham (Bucks) into the City, how do you find the commute? It looks about an hour on the met line with a walk either way.

Do you find it tiring or manageable? Or those you know who do it, how do they find it? Considering a move here soon for a better commute (one way for me now is about 2 hours 15).

Would love to hear your experiences, thank you!

I don't live near there anymore, but I know Amersham well.

Either the Met line or the alternative is the Chiltern line which might still have a non-stop train during peak times into Paddington which is about 25 mins and then London Underground.

main thing is there is choice, the Chiltern line is very reliable and on time.

the locals were raging about HS2 (me included) when I lived there because the Chiltern line was excellent, so hopefully they might invest in keeping it that way, as the HS2 wont benefit people in the home counties who want to travel into London.

The Chiltern line goes into Marylebone not Paddington.

@daisychain01 thank you. I think I'd get the Met line just because I work in the City so can just get off near the end of the line and walk rather than having to go to Marylebone and then get various tubes.

I'm going to do a test run and see how I find it

I lived in Moor Park. The met line during commute time was really awful - lots of signal failures and late trains. May have improved. One thing you could do is catch the Amersham train on Chiltern Line to Harrow on the Hill and then change. The Chiltern Line is a GREAT line.

Yes, you're right - I haven't lived in that area for 10 years so it was from memory.

It's a brilliant line isn't it @Hels20 I used to hop on at Great Missenden which is the next station up and trot into London just for a day trip because it was always clean, and safe - lots of families, so I was happy to travel alone.
