Panelling- big squares or small squares?

I am doing some panelling in my kitchen and unsure whether to do small squares or larger squares?

Which would make the room seem bigger?

Can you give an idea of the dimensions you are thinking of? Is the picture an example of what you consider to be large or small squares?

Otherwise, I think paint colour might have more of an impact.
