Northallerton and Thirsk

Hi - thinking of relocating to Yorkshire. Took a liking to Northallerton and Thirsk. Thirsk is a bit smaller than where I live now so possibly ruled out (but I still like it).

There Is a housing estate where there are several properties for sale (De Lacy Rd). The houses there seem great but not selling but can’t figure out why.

Can anyone suggest areas please? My budget is up to £375,000 at a push. Prefer to be £350,000 and lower but can anyone advise in good estates or places here.

Thanks

De Lacy Road is a fairly new build next to an industrial estate bordered by the railway line. Its the commercial/industrial end of town but residential building is increasing.
Nearby Thurston Park is developing rapidly. Lots of housing so far ( need to check individually as quality variable) but planned housing, shops.

If you're not set on a new build, Turker Lane area of Northallerton is nice, also Romanby.
You could try some areas of Brompton - Northallerton Road, Stokesley Road, around the green.
Avoid Ashlands Estate.
Northallerton is larger than Thirsk with more amenities.
Thirsk has some lovely areas but avoid the Hambleton Estate.

Thank you for your replies. I live about four away so going up there requires time.

Any other local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.🙏

Ripon and Richmond are both nice. Lovely Dales towns, shops and cafes. Neither has a railway station though so driving essential.

Look at other side of York: Malton, Pocklington, Pickering.

My DD lived near Thirsk for a few years (in the middle of nowhere) and we visited a few times and remarked on how lovely both of your choices were.
