Fireplace for 1930s house help

Hello,

Our new home has holes where the fireplaces should be. We would like to put a fireplace & mantle back in the living room. My other properties have been older & had fireplaces so I’m a bit lost on where start. Any ideas & recommendations?

Are you after gas or a traditional open fire?
Keeping it in keeping with the period of the house or more modern?

@TooManyBastardingFucksToGive gas preferably & in keeping.

Some stunning fires on the line pp posted, I imagine £££’s though!
If you Google 1930’s style gas fire place /suite/mantle piece something might come up you like. All the stunning originals won’t be for gas but you may get a surround you could fit a gas fire into if you Google 1930’s fire surround.

The prices are on the website if you click through to the individual fireplaces. They are based up north so are quite reasonable for what they are and I can attest to the quality and customer service being good.

I have bought a couple of completely tiled fireplaces from 20th Century Fireplaces in the last few years. They are beautiful: one vintage, one reproduction which was a bargain in a showroom sale. Really enjoyed walking round the showroom and seeing the workshop as well.

However, the second fireplace remained wrapped due to a total house renovation taking ages, and when we unwrapped it this year we realised it had a slight issue. Tried calling them and the line goes dead (just checked and it still does). I did get a response by email and the reply said that the business is closed for good (hence the showroom sale) but a couple of the former staff had bought the name. The website was still up then with prices etc as if everything was normal, and still is now, but as I say, the phone number no longer exists so the site might only be good for inspiration. You could still try emailing in case the new owners are doing something with the business now (it was February I last spoke to them).

Oh no! They were brilliant. I am very sad. I better not ever move again as I won't be able to use them to source fireplaces any more. Anyone have a new supplier?
