How long to wait for seller to find new property?

Just wanted any opinions on how long is fair to wait. Our sellers have lost their onwards purchase three months into the process and will not move into rental. We agreed to buy the house because the original house they were buying was chain free, so only a two house chain. Now we we are back to square one. Apparently they have been looking for new properties, it’s been a month and they still haven’t found anything. They generally have lacked any sense of urgency through the whole process and we are getting fed up.

how long would you hang on for before moving onto something else ? We are ftb and we’re almost at completion. Searches, enquiries, mortgage all sorted.

We love it and it’s our dream home - six weeks

It’s a house that we can afford - 0 days

They are taking advantage, and I would be off.

Realistically they're unlikely to find anything before the new year now as not many properties get listed late November/ December.

How easy would it be for you to find another property and start again?

You don't have to pull out in order to start looking again.

Ypu also don't need to give any notice or reason when you do pull out.

I'd start looking and viewing now. If you see something better, pull out and immediately offer on new house. If you don't, wait until either you find a diff property you do like, or the vendors buy.

It’s a terrible time of year for new properties coming on the market. I’ve noticed in my area absolutely nothing decent has come on for the past 4-5 weeks - it’s as though everyone suddenly realised now’s not the time to launch a property and are holding off - and they’re probably right. You’ll no doubt find this too if you start looking now.

Interested to know what happened? We are in a similar situation waiting for our buyer to find something.
