Is this a terrible idea?

I am putting in a downstairs WC and small sink in the understairs cupboard. There will be a toilet against the highest wall, a sink in the middle opposite the door and then there's is a space to the left which is the lowest part where the stairs rise up from.

My question- when used as a cupboard there is a tumble drier there now. It's a good use of this space. Can I keep it in there when converted to a WC or is an electric item in a WC the worst idea in terms of safety?

Well we had a washing machine in our bathroom growing up- I think its fairly common. Not sure about building regs and leaving a socket in there but when a toilet leaks its usually just a small amount of water so I don't really see the problem.

I would think keeping it in a small enclosed space is a bigger risk! Doesn't really make much difference if that's a cupboard or a bathroom I suppose.

What's the risk of a small enclosed space? There is space at the back for ventilation as the wall slopes down to the floor so space behind and 4/5 inches at the side for hot air to be released
