The best black out blinds

We’re currently renovating our bedroom and need new blinds / curtains / shutters.

I’m after something that blocks out all the light, I want a pitch black room, not a black out blind that lets light seep around it’s edges.

Does anyone have any recommendations? happy to spend a bit of money in search of a good nights sleep.

Unless you can get built in blinds for the windows there will always be a gap around the edges. Like you I hate light getting into the bedroom so I’ve always gone for basic blackout roller blinds hung so the fabric is closest to the window and also put up curtains with blackout linings. That’s about as good an option I’ve found in 30 years of looking

Blackout roller blind and curtains that hang from ceiling to floor and the full width of the wall, even if the window only takes up a third of the wall.

PerfectFit blackout blinds are great if you have UPVC windows? Then add blackout curtains/blinds to make the room cosy and for extra darkness!

Black out roller blinds, although they do leave a gap. Blackout curtains also, but what I did was buy a blackout gro blind, cut it into strips and attached them around the gaps of the blackout blind with double sided velcro. So the blind can still slide up and down inside the gro blind edge coverings. This covered all gaps, the curtains went over all of this. Night or day I can sleep in proper darkness.
