Receiving a gift close to completion?

We are lucky enough to receive a cash gift from our parents towards our house purchase. It is being used to pay for furnishing the house (expenses currently on credit cards) rather than deposit or stamp duty. Will it cause any problems or delays for our mortgage if we receive it before the completion or is it better to wait for afterwards? It is coming from outside the UK if it matters.

If it’s relevant we have already exchanged and just waiting for completion. Girt will be less than £10k.

As far as I recall there's no checks on your banking after completion etc. It's just a gift of money and isn't towards the house itself.

Doubt it. Conveyencer will have already done money laundering checks. The risk of your lender insisting on your current bank statement between now and completion are slim to none.
