How do I fix this?

Hello all, I am hoping there are some DIY experts on here that can help me! After an hour spend on google I am now just lost on the right thing to do.

We rent a property and the Landlord agreed for us to have internet installed. BT came and when they left I saw that they had damaged the brickwork.

How do I cover this? I can't put a plug in because they have filled the hole around the wire with sealant. I think I need a plate but I can't find one that doesn't have bad reviews and I don't want to screw anything in to the wall. Please DIY guru's help me.

Why do you want to fix it? Some of the brick has blown whilst they have drilled through, not a biggy if sealed and just forget about it? If you really want to fix it then you can get external polyfilla / similar stuff cheaply that you can apply and smooth out.

BT/Openreach did something similar at my home earlier this year. Report it to them, their engineer has done the damage, so they should fix it. They do have a process for this and mine was repaired to my satisfaction within about a fortnight.

Have a look at Screwfix or similar for a blanking plate?
Small square or circular disc to attach and cover up?

@NonmagicMike It is part of my tenancy that I repair any damage made by alternations that I have initiated or requested! And it is right at the front of the house so extremely visible! I am hoping for a quick fix.

@Qwerty4321 thank you! I just found an online form that I can fill in so I am hoping they can come and repair it. If not I have just go for @VWT5 suggestion and get some kind of cover.

Thanks - this is all very helpful so far!

If the sealant fully covers the gap so it's level with the render, you could just use a tester pot to paint the sealant. Masonary paint should stick to it. Just paint the gap though in case the colour match isn't exact.

Or search White External Brick Buster Plate on Amazon.

@JustWimpy thank you this is really helpful :)

In the past BT would normally install a plate and some conduit or capping to cover the hole and cable, rather than just leave the bare cable sticking out of raw brickwork, which is never going to look good.

This is what I have on my house (not actually a picture of my house).

If you are going to ask them back then I think the best you can do is ask them to fit this.

You need something like this , seeing as your cable is already in the wall then just slit it open then clamp it over the cable and push it in the hole. You might need to remove the sealant they put in first.
