MDF Panelling Painting

Hi,

Looking for any knowledge/advice.

I got my living room decorated and due to the size of job and wanting it to look good, I decided to pay a joiner for panelling and hire a professional painter/decorator.

The joiner said the MDF needed primed before painting, which I informed the painter.

The painter painted without priming which has left me with panelling with visible nail gun holes and joins. The overall paint job wasn't great and he even got paint on my sofa and never mentioned.

I spent a lot of money on the panelling/painting and it just looks a bit crap.

What I want to know is can I now, post the MDF being painted without primer, can I prime over and repaint? Or will I cause much more hassle?

Yes you can, you will want to sand then prime, then paint. A light sand between coats helps adherence. Use wood filler in the holes before priming.
