Just that really! If you have one do you love it or regret it?

Love it! If I move house, it would be one of the first things i'd install. Perfect for single cups of tea and filling pans with boiling water when cooking. My daughter has just come home from uni and said how much she missed it!

VintedoreBay · 05/11/2023 10:23

Does it take up much space to install?

My sister has one. Great foe a few cups, but not if.younhave lots of visitors. Ot also broke the other day, so the kettle had to be used.

Personally I prefer to have a hot drink making station out of the way, so people can get cuppas without getting under my feet. If it's at the sink, they're always going to be in my way.

atalost · 05/11/2023 10:31

Definitely. We have a Qettle and in a very hard water area and it's amazing so is the customer support - cheaper too than other brands. I wouldn't be without it. It does filtered water too

CocoPlum · 05/11/2023 10:33

I have a slightly cheaper version which doesn't do cold filtered water, but I LOVE it. Wasn't even a consideration until a friend mentioned it and I'm so glad I did!

GasPanic · 05/11/2023 12:22

Well I suppose "are they worth it" depends on whether you think shelling out around £1k, maintenance charges and running costs (they are going to cost more than a kettle but maybe not much more) are worth it vs. a £20 kettle.

Some people clearly do, I suspect a lot of others don't.

love mine.

and no it doesn't. The unit isnt big at all

missskinnylegz · 05/11/2023 15:19

I absent mindedly washed my hands in my friend's one the other day. So no, not for me

heldinadream · 05/11/2023 15:21

Not got one but used one on holiday.
Convenience yes, for instant boiling water.
Bit awkward it being the only tap, so if you're using the tap for something else...
Also I didn't think the tea tasted as good - it tended to be 'scummy'. Could have been the water in the area I suppose.
I wasn't convinced they would be worth the money.

motherofawhirlwind · 05/11/2023 15:21

Love ours. It's a cheap Screwfix one, just for boiling water and it's a pretty small unit. Does a couple of litres at once so plenty for pasta pan etc and refills quick.

heldinadream · 05/11/2023 15:24

@missskinnylegz oh no, were you badly scalded?
The one I used on holiday had a so-called failsafe system whereby you had to be holding it on to get the hot, i.e. you couldn't just let it run, but to be honest that came with other problems. In order for it to be running you're left with only one hand free.
I'm not keen really.

Fairyforest · 05/11/2023 15:25

Not for me, have used one a friend has, expensive fad in my opinion, will never have one myself.

sweetsardineface · 05/11/2023 15:29

Love my Quooker and it doesn't take too space in the cupboard. The water is boiling hot, literally.

RedDawg · 05/11/2023 15:31

Had one at my last house, when I moved getting a new one ordered and fitted was top of my list. It’s not Qettle brand, my plumber does not rate those. Bear in mind you need to change filter a couple of years. Mine is just boiling water combined with kitchen tap. Was about £450 plus fitting. The tank is small and is in cupboard under sink. Just googled Clearwater 3 in 1 maestro kettle tap and looked round for the cheapest supplier at the time.

TheOGCCL · 05/11/2023 15:32

I've had one (Quooker) about six years and have never regretted it. Most expensive single thing I've ever bought except the house it's in but always find it very retro when I go to someone's house and there isn't one. One of my main motivations was to reduce clutter on the worktop. My DH wasn't keen but has totally been converted.

wineandmaltesershappyme · 05/11/2023 15:33

Love mine, if it breaks will definitely get another

Crabacus · 05/11/2023 15:36

We had a quooker installed when we got a new kitchen - love it. So easy and quick. It's not a particularly cheap way of doing it considering the installation costs but they are so convenient

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/11/2023 15:39

A friend made me a cup of tea from theirs the other day. It wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. We don’t have one but I wouldn’t be looking to put one in after that.

PerspiringElizabeth · 05/11/2023 15:42

I’d definitely need to keep a kettle in a cupboard - currently no water in our local area. I guess you could boil a pan but I’m clumsy!

Yes I've noticed this at other people's houses

lapochette · 05/11/2023 15:54

We've got a quooker, had it for a number of years now and wouldn't be without it. With a quooker tap it would be extremely difficult to accidentally wash your hands with the boiling water.

Why would that be an issue? You wouldn't get boiling water because of the safety aspects that are built in.

We've had ours for 10 years and absolutely no maintenance. Buy filters twice a year (circa £20 each)

Bearpawk · 05/11/2023 16:43

So long as you can comfortably afford it, I think they are. Had one installed in my office and it's been an absolute game changer. 40+ people using it all day and it's great. No more queuing for the kettles! Frees up worktop space too.
Definitely getting on in my home kitchen as soon as is practical.
Also, we went for a quooker as that was one of the only true boiling taps in on the market at the time. Not sure what the competitors are like now, but the not-quite-boiling temp may cause scum on the water

Applerumleandcustard · 05/11/2023 16:49

We had a quooker installed when we had a kitchen refit earlier this year
I love it
Just put the cold tap on at the same time as you start the hot water and you have perfect hand washing water
