Shower or bath taps with extra hose

Looking to change my shower. Currently a single shower head and bath taps with the extra hose (like photo 2) the hose is good for washing my hair when having a bath and washing the dog.

Would you go with photo 1 with the extra hose on the shower or photo 2 on the taps?

What are your showering habits? We used to have something similar to photo 2 (with the small shower head mounted on a rail on the wall), then changed to a set up similar to photo 1. I switch between shower heads on the daily basis, depending on whether I'm washing my hair or not 😄, but DH would never use the bigger shower head as it makes him feel like 'drowning'.

Plus check if your water supply / boiler set up can support the bigger shower head (e.g., if you have a combi boiler, check its flow rate is enough to supply the larger shower head, any issues with low water pressure, etc.?)

We got both when the kids were small, but the bath taps and shower were in the middle - to allow for two clear ends for two kids. The lower one will not have reached high enough if needed when showering. And the higher one was hard to reach from outside for rinsing their hair in the bath, getting round the shower screen. Also easier to reach in the bath, especially as mounted in the middle which I’d recommend if possible. The builder thought it was odd we had both but there was little price difference.

Think about how you will use it, the price difference, extra thing to clean. Where you’ll mount the holder. Is it a “forever” home or selling in a few years, so only think of your (current & future) needs or to appeal more widely.

I've got photo 1 for the shower enclosure as only having the top fixed showere means you can't get everything clean!!

I've also got photo 3 for the bath (we have separate shower & bath in the bayhroom).

If you like showers and will have them in the bath, then I'd get photo 1. If you're having both like us then get photo 1 for the shower & photo 2 for the bath.

Thanks everyone. I currently have this over the bath then photo 2 as before with shower hose on the bath taps so the plumbing is in place already.
It's a small 2 bed house so mainly couples would buy or those starting a family but they would extend or move on.
It's the hair washing when having a bath is the main thing for me! I do mainly have showers though, maybe a bath once a week.
I do take all the points. I like the option of a different shower experience I.e not the drowning feeling.
Having a tap in the middle of the bath I like as well but I don't want to mess about with the plumbing too much.
The bathroom is only 5ftx5ft. Any other suggestions welcome!
I am also not having the concealed shower anymore but an exposed one over the bath.

@SoFP that's a really good point about the shower screen. I currently have a curtain so don't have that issue but did want a shower screen. I had a foldable screen in my last flat but that was a bit naff.

We have the shower as per 1

Then we have wall mounted side taps in the middle - we run the bath from this and there’s a shower hose for hair washing - swill you hair in the bath - shower the dog, shave legs etc I’ll see if I can find one

Kids won’t bump into the taps and you can refill without sitting up.

And as PP said no issue with the screen

@Totaly my bath is only 1500mm so on the small side. Maybe this is what I am looking for? A shower that are also bath taps 🤯 that would save a lot space.
