The stairs in my house are very steep and not safe for young children/elderly/infirm to use. It's a straight flight of stairs with a spacious hallway at the bottom.
So I'm wondering whether the staircase could be replaced to give a more normal pitch?
Has anyone had that done? If so, how big of a job was it? How long were the stairs out of action for? And rough idea of cost?
