Did you oil your engineered wood flooring after installation - is it mandatory?

As in the title!

It is a brushed and oiled wood but I've been reading it needs further oiling upon installation?

It should be oiled following installation and then every 18-24 months afterwards (or more frequently if it’s in heavy use with loads of children, dogs etc.) to keep it in good condition. It’s not mandatory, but you risk marks otherwise.

Yes, oiled finish needs to be redone every so often. Lacquered finish doesn't.

Thank you - hopefully it won't take long to do!

Thank you for the recommendation @Dbank, that is the one I’ve bought! Can you put the furniture back on it after the 24 hours are up or do you need to leave longer?

it might need a bit longer, but you should be able to tell, but be a bit careful with darker wood furniture as there might be some transfer (or put kitchen foil under the legs for a couple of days).

Does solid wood need the same oiling treatment as engineered wood? I assume so 🤔

Provided it's not a lacquered or varnished finish I would have thought so, but I would try to check with the manufacture or installer if you can.

I did 2 coats after installing it then once every 3 years, or rather I did it after 3 years but moved before the 6 leaving instructions for the new owner

I left it over a week to dry each time
