Asbestos in Concrete

Was asbestos ever added to concrete for flooring? Our house was built 1983.

I am anxious over asbestos and am looking into help for it but DH is ripping our kitchen out now.

Can I suggest that you just have an asbestos survey done? You are clearly very anxious about it and it's the only way to know for certain.

I wouldn't expect it in concrete, but it was common in floor tiles & mastic back in the day.

Building materials with concrete in were common into the 1980s - plasterboard, corrugated cement roofing, pipe lagging, cement. If you're worried get an asbestos survey, but if you're demolishing a construction work you need to wear a mask for silica dust anyway.

Some tiles can have asbestos in it, not much but it’s still there you can get a test kit from Amazon by the way
