Light gold metallic wall paint recommendations

I'm planning to accent my largely off-white walls with a light metallic gold paint. Mouldings, some edges and the recesses behind the chimney breast. There are lots of options online but hard to tell if it is metallic, pale and in a very cold tone. Can anyone recommend?

I've got no explanation for the Stalin in the title! I've reported this for amendment. At ease, Comrades!

In my experience metallic paints are quite thin see through so if you choose a blue toned paint as an undercoat then you should be able to influence the tone of the paint. Maybe try it out on a spare bit of paper?

Well, you would stand out from friends and neighbours :'D

Only here for the gilded communist... 😂😂

I don't know how to interpret this comment? Is this very common now? I like it.

What effect are you aiming for? I recently watched a couple of episodes of Sarah Beeny's house in the country thing and Château DIY and I think
Sarah B mixed her own shade from two different ones and the Chateau owner came to the conclusion that fake gold leaf was the best option for a proper gold look.

The base oat does make a difference - from my brief foray into gilding as part of a calligraphy course I remember that red gives a warmer gold look.

I think it was in response to Stalin, not the gold :)

Mad About the House painted her office ceiling in her old house gold from Mylands.

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't considered the ceilings. It may well take hold. I probably should be reined in.

I am heartbroken that this is a mistake. I was imagining a metallic gold sickle on a deep red background or perhaps a camouflage tank effect.

Your actual plan sounds lovely.

This is my first proper foray into anything beyond magnolia. I'm not blessed with great vision either. The off-white is a really cold tone and I like that, keen to stick with it. It may seem odd but I find pale gold really calming and like the contrast, easy to compliment too.

What is this? A misspellings of starling like the birds? Ukraine ain't gonna like it

MiddleagedBeachbum · 21/10/2023 09:39

Please do it and post pics, I might do it now!

Straysocks · 21/10/2023 09:40

Thanks for all the advice. Now feeling I owe some kind of debt to Stalin for the inspo. I've been barking unreasonable demands left, right and centre. Perhaps I've been taken over?
