Gosh, some of the prices are extortionate, is this the norm for vendors to try and sell furniture, will I look rude for declining?

I bought a 7 bedroomed house in France very cheaply and vendors asked if we wanted to buy beds, wardrobes and chests of drawers for every room leather sofas, coffee table, dining large table and 8 chairs, fridge freezer, washing machine, and the tumble dryer. We agreed they only charged us €1k for the lot. On day we arrived to sign final completion statement and take keys we drove straight over to the house. When we arrived we were surprised because they had left a note saying we could have everything in the house for free but if we didn't want them to contact them and they would come and remove them. They left cutlery, crockery, saucepans, towels, t towels, sharp knives in a block expensive coffee machine, kettle, toaster, electric crepe maker, mixer, glasses, jugs, pillows, duvets for all beds, bedding sets and even spare bedding sets all ironed too, an iron, and even some power tools. We were blown away and hugely grateful. We emailed and offered them a week's holiday the following year. They were getting divorced and just wanted to sell it. The lady came the following year and she's a friend now. She occasionally stays for a weekend which we let her have free as it would be empty otherwise.
