Plastic curtain rail

My curtains have become difficult to open and close. The curtains used to glide easily along the rail but now seem to stop and start as I pull them. Do I need to spray the rail with oil, maybe WD40?

Take the curtains down before you spray ( WD40 or a silicone spray on the runners, not the rail)

Agree silicone spray is your friend here.
