Sliding doors or Bifolds?

Anyone have opinions on either?

Need to update our patio doors, and trying to decide between the two. We have standard sized patio french doors at the moment, but want more light in the room so looking to go for wider. Just can't decide if sliding doors are old fashioned compared to bifolds? Seems bifold are the more popular option at the moment.

I had bifolds in my old house (I built it myself) and have put sliders into my current build. Much prefer these!

This looks great! What a lovely space. M
Can I ask the measurements?

We are happy to knock the wall a bit to give a bigger opening, and therefore the door would be wider than the standard double door we have now. I really like how sleek this looks, just wondering if it is maybe a bit too ambitious for us size wise.

We have sliders, really like them. We are north west so wouldn't be opening the doors up hugely very often anyway. We have sliders on 2 sides of the extension, so they open out on the corner fairly wide.

I like the sight lines. I'd have gone for slightly narrower profile frames, but it was Covid so supplies were limited.

It gives us more space inside -there's not really enough space to fold bifolds back. And I have big pots of plants on the non opening sliders so it looks like you are looking out on a jungle.

We chose sliding doors over bifolds (opening 2.6m, it's a sliding door and a fixed panel). Looks like it was 100% right decision so far for us.
There is a sofa next to the fixed panel inside and a patio dining set on the other side outside. Hardly any point being able to open the full width when there's furniture in the way anyway.

I open my bifolds, turn the sofa round and relax facing my garden. Bliss - especially on days where its a bit chilly but I'm protected from the breeze 😊

@MaggieFS Would you mind telling me where you got your sliders from? We're planning to install triple track sliders of a similar size but I'm not sure where to get them from.

Our triple track slicers are from www.katuk.co.uk/

We have bifolds out to our (north facing) garden. Love them. Opening up the whole of the back of the house is lovely. 12 years in, and no problems whatsoever.

It always amuses me how it's such a divisive topic on here though!

Jumping on this post.

Would anybody be willing to share cost for sliding doors. Looking at trying to get more light in and have 3m sliding doors installed but would need steal beam thanks
