New shower cost?!

We are renting out our home while we live temporarily abroad. Agency taking care of everything. Tenants are lovely and we felt terrible when within the first month they reported the shower was leaking and staining the ceiling below. Plumbers have done a quick fix of regrouting and sealing but said it's temporary and the shower will need replacing. It's an electric shower which is only a year old, but I think it's more the old tiles and tray etc.
Anyway, the initial quote was £1-1.5k but the plumber the agency use has now quotes £2.5k for a new enclosure, tray and replacing old tiles with panels. We feel like this is really expensive but also like our hands are tied as we are thousands of miles away! Want the tenants to have a good working shower obviously so don't want to delay on the installation but is this roughly what would be expected price wise? Anyone else done similar? We are South West rural.

Get two more quotes from reputable local plumbers.
Have a friend who lives there still to look at the job/tiles/actual shower etc. There is nothing like seeing the real thing.
