They’re selling our house!

So we moved three months ago. Cash buyers for our house (3 bed semi - fairly small) who were desperate to move in quickly. They are an older couple (retired I think) and had sold their house to their daughter. Our house was fully done: rewire, re plumbed, new bathroom, decent flooring, plastered & lined walls, log burner & open fire; kitchen was nearly 10 years old and would have needed redoing eventually but nothing awful.

Anyway, I noticed yesterday that it’s now on the market - for 10k more than we sold it for, so they’re not making any money whatsoever. Anyone got any theories?!

I’d love to provide you with a link but my ego can’t take the criticism 😂 Just kidding - I’ll think about it!

Im glad some of you get my curiosity; it’s very interesting! Particularly as obviously we wanted to move so I do get the house not being perfect; I just can’t fathom why you wouldn’t wait a bit to avoid questions about sale history.

LOL at the posters questioning my attachment to the house - I’m offended tbh that they hated my house 😂 but honestly it runs no deeper. It also deffo wasn’t haunted when we lived there but maybe the buyers are! I think some of you need to lighten up a bit. I can’t fathom why I wouldn’t phone the estate agent to ask under false pretences 😂

I would also be very interested (and mildly but irrationally offended) if a house I’d sold was on the market so soon! On the other hand, I’m baffled that the family who bought my own ‘mistake’ house are still there 17 years later.

That was 10 minutes of my life you owe me op.

Why? Are you a very slow reader?

Money laundering!

Bluesandwhites · 11/10/2023 22:52

I wanted to sell my new home after a few weeks, but when I contacted the conveyancing solicitor, she told me I'd have to wait 6 months due to money laundering laws.

@thelinkisdead Yes I am.

Please post a link!

I would be offended too, if this happened to me. To go through all the effort and stress of selling again, surely they must feel quite strongly.

I thought this, but then I tried to consider different angles and they are an elderly couple so time isn’t on their side as it is a couple in their 40s; if it were us we’d sit on a house we weren’t happy with for a while to avoid questions when selling, but perhaps they don’t feel they can afford to do that time-wise?

I’ve decided against a link as anyone who knows me will instantly know it!

Can I ask why? I’m always intrigued by people not settling into houses. Maybe because we’ve only moved once (in terms of buying a house; we bought our first and then recently our forever home) so I’m not really the sort of person who is used to the process!

There was a house near me that sold about five times over 8 years, including a family I know.

I kept seeing it come up, a nice semi on a nice street, and wondered whether there was something supernatural going on. The last owners have been there a while now, so maybe the neighbours were awful.
