Fix or ditch bathroom underfloor heating?

Our loft conversion has been almost finished since June. Electricians came today and the underfloor heating in the ensuite isn’t working. It was tested before the screed and tiles went down and worked fine.

They have tested and are sure it’s the electric mat rather than the wiring so we have 2 choices:

  1. pull up tiles and screed and fix it and redo tiles. Tiles are on an 8 week lead time. I think we have a tricky conversation with the overall builder if we go for this, because we don’t want to pay for extra labour or new tiles…
  2. forget it, have a redundant control panel and get some money off the bill.

This project has dragged on since March so I’m tempted to go for 2), but is that a mistake longer term? Tiles are thick and cold but UFH is a luxury in the grand scheme of things.

Any thoughts?
