Hi everyone,
We're looking to redesign our kitchen-diner-family space and would love some ideas for the layout.
I love cooking and entertaining, so we're keen on extending the kitchen space out into the dining area with a large kitchen island and more units. The question is what we do with the dining table, which I think we'd want to keep for meals when people are over.
Things we're mulling over are:
- Removing the sitting area (in the "family room") and creating a large dining area there instead (we have a separate lounge). Tiling all the way across the large room. The frees up all the kitchen diner space for kitchen units and islands.
- Creating a dining area beside the island - either connected to the island or as a separate space, and retaining the family room as another sitting space with sofas as it is now
- Placing a sofa or a few comfy chairs beside the island and moving the dining table to the sitting area
We have an 11 month old... so we're trying to work out whether we'd miss a sofa in the kitchen diner. He has a playroom next door that we spend lots of time in together and we have a proper lounge. The "family room" has steps, so isn't the safest space for him at the moment. We don't tend to use it much.
Looking for ideas and wisdoms :)
