Helo! Painted Radiator

Daughter painted a wall in her room a very, erm, strong yellow this summer, which is fine, but she also painted the radiator on that wall the same colour with the matt emulsion wall paint. It looks awful to me - like student digs in the 80's and I need to sort it out.

Can I paint over it or how do i remove the paint? Will another layer of paint affect how the radiator works?

Argh.

One layer of paint isn't really going to affect how the radiator works.

If it's your daughter's room and she likes it I would bite my tongue and just leave it. You'll probably find the yellow paint flakes off over time on its own!

Otherwise, for it not to be naff with flaky paint I think you have two choices: 1) new radiator, 2) strip back to bare metal, prime, and then repaint in your preferred colour using proper radiator paint. Unless it's an expensive designer or antique radiator I would just pick 1).

Sigh, both options are time or ££. I will have to just avert my eyes.

You know the rules. Post a pic, let's see how terrible it is!

I mean, you could overpaint it with white paint but within a few months (winter approaching, radiators on) it's going to be a mess of flowery, flaking petals of yellow and white paint.

Definitely want to see a pic!
