Hi, thanks in advance for reading and responding.

Just wondering if anyone can advise from the Woking area which are the best secondary/high schools +/- college/6th forms, from your personal experience?

Just looking ahead at schools and what they offer, and what's good about them before we look in the areas to buy.

We are also a bit nervous about the recent Woking council bankruptcy and how this might affect schools in the future :(

Our other option is Guildford right now.

There’s Woking High, Winston Churchill, Bishop David Brown and St John the Baptist, if you mean state schools. SJB is catholic, very oversubscribed and you have to be a practising catholic.

Sixth form has Woking 6th form college, Farnborough and Godalming.

Oh thank you so much!
Yes, I meant state schools only, sorry should have included that.

Do you think these schools you've listed are good? I don't really trust Oftsed ratings anymore and think that whole ofsted process will change up soon. So I wanted to ask parents on here what they think from personal experiences :)

It’s some years since I lived there, but I think SJB has good results, BDB is situated in a less sought after area, but I think is improving, Winston Churchill is average and Woking High quite well thought of. Depends whether you want highly academic, nurturing, results driven etc.

There's also Hoe Valley School which is quite new. My friend's DC is there and quite happy with it. I think it has a sixth form.

Education is organised by Surrey CC not Woking BC. I don't know enough to say there won't be any impact, but it would be indirect.

Looking at narrowing down secondary schools for my boys.
Does anyone have information as which among the 2 is better for academics and overall behaviour

Woking High or Hoe Valley

Also, would be good to know how Bishop David Brown fairs in comparison to the 2 above as it was mentioned as having improved in one of the earlier posts.

Thank You

If I were moving to the area generally, I'd try and get into the George Abbott or Guildford County catchments instead (ie Guildford) - or try for Gordon's.

There is a good choice of sixth forms depending what you want to do so don't worry about them yet.

Woking high is excellent. We are starting to look into sixth forms now so can’t help you there yet!
