Hi. Just looking for an upto date idea of what you pay per month or year (please state in answer which figure you are using)

We looking to buy a 3 bed semi. Not on any risk area eg not on flood area etc. And no crazy expensive contents. Ipad prob the most expensive.

Thanks.

It also depends on where you live, claims history etc.
But weve just done 172.89 for the year. Paid in one go. Includes a few pieces of jewelry and a couple of bikes in a 4 bed detached.

You need to know what the rebuild cost is for the buildings, to include demolition. Some areas are cheaper than others.

Always add up what you really own for contents, how much it will cost to replace, and what goes out of the house. So consider phones and laptops, cameras, jewellery and any special clothing items, eg an expensive handbag. Then look at every room. What’s the cost of rugs, carpets, curtains, furniture, clothes, etc?

Buildings and contents insurance looks too cheap at £170 ish for both. It will depend on finishes, building materials, age, sq ft and don’t forget kitchen and bathroom replacement costs. This is surely not covering the cost of rebuilding a 4 bed detached and contents? Insurance companies walk you through it. Be honest because under valuation gives then a reason not to meet a claim.

Typical rebuild costs are £2000-3000 per m2. More (lots) if it’s listed or high end. So a 1800 sq ft house is around 200 m2. So insure for £400,000 minimum. Not what you paid for it.

£1,000,000 rebuild
£100,000 contents
And yes, under £180 annual policy.

I guess people's disbelief at my number means it's lower than they expect. So perhaps factor in something a bit more. That's with a big name insurer, BTW, before someone tells me I need to go with a company who will respond to claims.

Or are my contents way under estimated?

Who is it with? I'm worried that insurance prices will be much higher this renewal. My car insurance certainly was.

Thanks. Other half had £350 per month in the budget so now realised this was a typo.
