External Cladding on Dormer loft conversion

Does anyone have any advice on external cladding? We are doing a loft extension (Dormer) and we're going to get metal cladding but are worried about the noise (if rains etc.) and durability so were thinking about composite cladding. Does anyone have any experience of composite cladding? TIA for any help!

If permitted development you'll need to match the existing roof. So usually tiles or modern composite slate. What metal cladding are you looking at?

Im guessing they mean on the sides of the dormer not the roof ?

We're just having our dormers (mix of existing and new-build) clad. They have pitched roofs which will be clad in the same tiles as the rest of the roof and the front and sides are now being clad in a composite wood-effect board on the side and front. Looks ok to me!

Thanks - I mean the sides only. We've got planning permission for grey metal cladding but we're thinking of changing to grey composite instead. The rest of the house will be white (or near white) render, and the roof is a dark grey thick sheet style material (not very technical!).

We're looking for something like the picture I've attached.

Thanks @GU24Mum that's similar to us. We'd like a grey colour but wood-effect board. What company did you use? Would you recommend them? Thanks.

Ours is a bit lighter than that but our roof tiles are concrete tiles so it needed to be a contrast. Our builders have sorted it and I'm trying to remember the company name (for the cladding) as I saw samples. They literally finished yesterday so will try and see if I can find a name on anything. I can send a photo if helpful?

@GU24Mum That would be great, thanks!

And here is an off-cut which we've held against the wall to show the detail

Thanks @GU24Mum Your Dormers look lovely! That looks like what were looking for (we're possibly looking for a darker grey) - do you know what the company is?

I'll ask the builder on Tuesday and let you know. They definitely do a darker grey and a few other similar shades. I'm not very decisive and don't have much idea how things will look so asked the builder what he thought would look good. We're pleased with them - a definite improvement on the old ones (we've now got a mix of old and new) which were awful and not even fully waterproof.

Thanks @GU24Mum that would be great - I struggle to visualise things too so great to have seen an example and get some advice! Thank again ☺
