Kitchen makeover inspiration

Until we can afford to redo the kitchen, I wondered if anyone has ideas to cheaply update this kitchen?

I've painted kitchen cabinets and replaced handles in my previous house so I'm ok with that.

I think I can get away with keeping the floor and worktop. They're both a stone colour.

So what colour would you do the cabinets?
Can I do anything with the tiles rather than replace them? I don't like the tiles.

It's a very dark room, no natural light. So not sure whether to embrace the dark or try and go lighter.

I can go bold as it'll be only in a few years.

If the cabinets are wood, you could stain them rather than paint, in black or near-black, to embrace the lack of light. Or if you want bold, I love a rich coolish green. F&B Arsenic is one of my favourite colours.

You could tile over the wall tiles with metro tiles in a bold colour, perhaps, but they might look fine as they are once the cabinets are sorted.

I wouldn't go dark, I'd go a really really bright colour. Then it will seem deliberate that everything else is so neutral.

Get some magazines or have a browse on instagram for colour inspiration. As it's only temporary (even if that's a couple of years) and basic just paint I would have done fun with it. Get a colour chart and sit in the floor and pick a darker colour that you love (blue, green, red, pink) and then choose the lightest shade in the same colour for the upper cabinets.

Take off the venetian blinds and add a Roman blind for a pop off colour

Thank you, great ideas 🙂

I do like the dark green and pink combo.

It's next to a Victorian tiles hallway so something that doesn't really clash with that room, if that even matters

I really like the dark green and have also seen scarlet n rust colour from paint and paper library which would fit the victorian house type, might be too dark.
