Arghhh red light on for salt and not rinsing. Filled, scooped out the gross water, checked the pipes aren't twisted. What now??

Clean out filter. Turn off at the mains, leave a few minutes, turn back on. Try it again.

dementedpixie · 12/09/2023 20:57

Definitely clean the filters and check nothing is trapped in the impeller blades

OneFrenchEgg · 13/09/2023 21:17

Oooh that's a good idea. I've done the filter not switched off at mains.

Did it work op?

notafraidofthebigbadwolf · 13/09/2023 21:53

Mr Muscle drain unblocker when you’ve scooped all the water out. Leave it overnight. Will hopefully restart in the morning.

TerfTalking · 14/09/2023 05:20

I had a piece of broken glass in my filter which stopped it doing whatever it should so the whole machine stopped. I cleaned the filter and the parts below the filter but could still feel the glass. I couldn’t get it out so had to call Bosch who brought a plunger and plunged the glass out with suction! An easy fix…..if I’d had a plunger. Cost me about £80 if I recall.

TerfTalking · 14/09/2023 05:21

Impeller blades! Thank you pp the glass was stuck in there stopping their movement.

OneFrenchEgg · 14/09/2023 07:51

Nope. It stinks now, there's water in the filter. I've checked the pipes and turned the cold water supply on and off again. I could only take one set of blades off so washed those. Turned it off and on at wall.
Might try the unblocked?

(tried a plunger)

Have you been able to access the impeller blade of the pump motor to check that it moves? (not the big spray arms)

Usually there's a plastic cover / clip that you remove to access it, it's usually in the sump / filter area?

If you still have an issue, please share the make model.

dementedpixie · 14/09/2023 09:59

The impeller blades are under the filter. I have to remove a small white plastic cover to access mine

OneFrenchEgg · 14/09/2023 10:11

Hi have stuck drain stuff down it, used a plunger and no movement. I've taken out the cylindrical filter, and the flat bit around that but it's just a hole with a small gap at the bottom.
I'll share a (gross) photo

What make and model is the machine?

OneFrenchEgg · 14/09/2023 11:26

Can't find the model it's an Indesit so frustrating. The repair man someone recommended hasn't replied, neither has the guy we used to use.

Both of these are fine.

dementedpixie · 14/09/2023 11:30

Use a sponge or cloth to get the water out the filter area so you can see down into the bit underneath

dementedpixie · 14/09/2023 11:31

Take the bottom basket out to make it easier to work in the bottom of the machine

OneFrenchEgg · 14/09/2023 12:25

So there is nothing in the filled one. It's literally a cylinder with a small gap at the bottom. I got excited because it turned up, but then stopped and didn't drain. It's the hexagonal 's' that is flashing on and off in red

Google says it's a cold water supply issue for not draining but that's fine. It must be blocked somewhere?

I had something similar a couple of weeks ago. Not a broken pump but a problem with the sensor.
Take it out and tip it (with help if you need it) to get the water to drain out the bottom. Check if there is a sensor at the bottom near the filter basket, if so give it a clean with a paintbrush or toothbrush. Turn it back on and try to run it again. If you can get the water to drain out, chuck 2 dishwasher tablets in a jug with boiling water, chuck that in and try to run it again.
This worked for me eventually (after a few goes). Even my DIY god dad told me I needed a repair man but I refused to call one. If yours isn't pumping out the water though, the pump might be broken. It's actually a relatively easy fix to swap a new one in.

Dbank · 14/09/2023 13:22

It looks like the model number is DFG 15B1 UK

sproutsandparsnips · 14/09/2023 21:37

We had a similar issue with last dishwasher. Had to pull out and tip backwards as 'flood switch' had apparently been tripped so even though blockage resolved had to untrip the switch. Was a PITA.

JassyRadlett · 14/09/2023 21:40

With ours it's almost always a blockage/buildup where the hose meets the dishwasher - there's a wee filter there and cleaning it out does the trick.

OneFrenchEgg · 14/09/2023 21:53

Ok im going to pull it out and tip it back. Wish me luck.
