Noise from new extractor of nearby pub kitchen

I am being driven insane by the constant noise coming from the new extractor fan system that has been installed in a nearby pub. The back of the pub is quite a distance from our garden but between us and it is garages and a car park so no buildings. When we moved in I noticed a slight noise coming from their old one but it was bearable. This one completely puts me on edge and makes me feel like I’m about to take off! My husband who is usually ok with noise
agrees. No neighbours have come back to me yet. What are my rigjts? What can I do? It was on when i went to bed last night and i had to wear ear plugs to sleep (not always possible as my son is eplileptic and husband often away) hisband said it stopped at 11 so i think will be an issue of noise disturbance in so called sociable hours 7am-11pm. I’m fine with noise of life and the city, but this ongoing loud noise is intolerable for me.
thanks.

I feel for you. People will no doubt be along with ‘if it bothers you move to the country’ polemics, (if only we all could), but for those of us living in the real, noisy world, these things take their toll. I doubt there’s much you can do if it stops at 11pm, though.

Contact the council's environmental health department. The extractor is obviously necessary but a noisy one is not acceptable.
