Thinking of moving from the South West to Rushden / St Neots / Wellingborough way. Have 2 primary school aged children.

Really grateful for thoughts and opinions on what those areas are like, good for families / quiet but good amenities / rough / untouchable even with a barge pole etc. thank you!

If you move to St Neots there are two secondary schools, ernulf and longsands. Longsands is OK, ernulf is rough.

Think St Neots is generally considered nice,

I have family in Rushden and visit frequently. There are some attractive and some decent housing areas around the outskirts, and Higham Ferrers, but the small town centre is quite grotty and attracts a certain type of person. I certainly wouldn’t want my teen out there in the evening. It needs a good regeneration. Most people head out of town to The Lakes for shopping.
Wellingborough has a better feel, if still a quite dated town, and I’m sure surrounding villages will be perfectly pleasant.

If you are moving to St Neots would recommend looking at Crosshall Primary School catchment area .
