Buying - draft contract

So conveyancer says ' recieved draft contract papers, your case handler will be reviewing the information in order to raise the legal enquiries.' Any ideas how long this bit is? Owner trying to push it through quickly and we're just trying to get an idea of whether a few weeks or longer. Private sale.

Receiving the draft contract (and supporting documentation) is essentially the first stage in the legal process. Could be another 6 weeks, might be 8,10 or 12 depending on what enquiries need to be raised and what is discovered.

every sale is a little different, and there any number of a thousand and one possible things that might come up that need to be resolved. It could be really straightforward, or there could be something that needs to be dealt with by the Land Registry that might take 3 months for them to look at.
